Lighthouse and Winery Tour

View a variety of different landscapes along the Points East Coastal Drive, including coastal cliffs and beaches, forests, rolling farmland, pastoral rivers and the ever present sea. Visit Point Prim Lighthouse. Built in 1845, the Lighthouse is the first and oldest lighthouse on Prince Edward Island. It is also one of only a few round brick lighthouses in Canada. The Wood Islands Lighthouse was founded in 1876 to aid marine traffic in the Northumberland Strait. It is the second oldest lighthouse, with an attached dwelling and tower of this style, on Prince Edward Island. A must stop is Rossignol Estates Winery, a double gold winner for their Blueberry wine at the All Canadian Wine Championships. Relax and enjoy the picturesque landscape on the drive back to the city as your tour winds to a close.

As we head back to Charlottetown, disembark the vehicle to capture the perfect pictures at Dalvay by the Sea, a summer resort hotel since the 1930's and Covehead Lighthouse, located at the east end of Prince Edward Island's National Park. As we begin our journey, this tour begins with a brief tour of the City of Charlottetown and then travels along the scenic Central Coastal Drive passing through the heart of the South Shore, famous for its rolling hills, red cliffs and winding rivers. Visit the seaside promenade of Victoria-by-the-Sea, an enchanting little seaside village, featuring quaint, local shops. Enjoy some free time to stroll, take in the view, and maybe even grab a chocolate at the Chocolate Factory! The short drive to Borden-Carleton, home of Gateway Village, features the spectacular Confederation Bridge which spans the Northumberland Strait, a distance of 12.9 kilometers. lt is the world’s largest multi-span bridge over a tidal current waterway.
